How Do I Get Saved?

Someone Is Knocking At Your Heart's Door

Prepared by Max Walker

I. Who Is Knocking?

  • The Bible Says: "Behold I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him and he with me." Revelation 3:20.

  • That Means: At some time in every life Jesus Christ knocks at the door. The line of communication between God and man is such that one knows the knock is Jesus. For some it may come early and for some later but the knock will come to all as Jesus seeks to enter every life.

II. Why Does Jesus Knock?

  • The Bible Says: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23.

  • That Means: Everyone has fallen short of what God expects of them.

  • The Bible Says: "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way." Isaiah 53:6.

  • That Means: Everyone is self-willed and rebellious toward God.

  • The Bible Says: "Your iniquities have separated between you and your God." Isaiah 59:2.

  • That Means: Your sins have formed a barrier between you and God.

  • The Bible Says: "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16.

  • That Means: God loves you in spite of your sins and sent His only beloved Son to die for you that you could be saved. Jesus is knocking at your heart's door because you have sinned against God and He wants to come into your life and to save you from your sins now.

III. What Will You Do About His Knock?

  • The Bible Says: "It is time to seek the Lord." Hosea 10:12

  • That Means: You can be saved this very moment. Now is the time to open the door of your heart and Jesus will come in.

  • The Bible Says: "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." James 4:14.

  • That Means: Due to the uncertainty of life it is dangerous not to open your heart to Jesus today.

  • The Bible Says: "Repent of your sins." Luke 13:3.

  • That Means: Unless you are sorry for your sins against God and are willing to turn from your sins and follow Jesus you will be lost in your sins forever.

  • The Bible Says: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved." Acts 16:31.

  • That Means: If you will answer the knock of Jesus at your heart's door and believe on Him, He will save you from your sins right this very moment.

  • The Bible Says: "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13.

  • That Means: If you will ask Jesus to save you and trust in Him, He sill save you now.

I ask you now to receive Christ into your life. Let me suggest a prayer for you.

Lord, I confess my sins unto you and at this moment ask you to come into my life and to cleanse me from my sins. Thank you Lord for fulfilling your promise to save me. Lord, I also ask you to help me live for you.

IV. What Should You Do After Opening Your Heart's Door To Jesus?

  • The Bible Says: "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shall be saved.' Romans 10:9.

  • That Means: It is important to confess Jesus before others. One of the best ways is to go before others and acknowledge that you have trusted in Him and that you are not ashamed of Him.

  • The Bible Says: "Christ loved the church and gave himself for it." Ephesians 5:25.

  • That Means: As a Christian you should seek to join yourself to the body of Christ which is the church.

  • The Bible Says: "Repent and be baptized." Acts 2:38.

  • That Means: When you open your heart to Jesus and believe on Him that you should follow Him in Scriptural baptism. Any Bible believing church will require baptism for membership.
